Ace Inhibitors  to Lower Your Blood Pressure

There are different types of drugs for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart disease. Each type of medication high blood pressure have a specific way of working and have different capabilities in lowering high blood pressure. Ace inhibitor is a hypertension drug with a mechanism to stop the production of angiotensin II, which is the body’s natural hormone that works on the arteries, constricts blood vessels thereby potentially increasing the pressure. When the hormones run out, the arteries stay wide open, which allows stable and more normal flow of blood to the heart, which in turn lowers blood pressure.

Benazepril, enalapril and lisinopril and Ace inhibitors are the three most commonly used. These inhibitors are generally used to treat more severe cases of high blood pressure and no drugs were first used after the first diagnosis. Each inhibitor works in much the same way, by relaxing the arteries and helps increase blood flow slowly, so as not to inadvertently cause a heart attack.

Some side effects of ace inhibitors is rash, red itchy skin, swelling of the face, neck or tongue, or a salty or metallic taste in the mouth.

The use of ace inhibitors cause a decrease in potassium levels. Some medications, like diuretics, dramatically reducing the levels of potassium in the body. Need to do a routine check potassium levels, because too much potassium in the body can cause nervousness, depressed, confused and sometimes may feel tingling in hands and feet.

In patients with high blood pressure, in required to avoid the consumption of salt. Anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil, Motrin, Aleve or aspirin can inhibit the work of ace inhibitors, and sometimes it can actually interfere with the drug.
